Caffeine in blood sugar drops: guarana and green tea
Glyco Harmony lists two caffeine sources: guarana seed and green tea leaf. The label prints no caffeine amount. Label order sets a ceiling: the two extracts together cannot pass about 67 mg per mL, and the caffeine inside them is less. For most healthy adults that is modest, but it still counts toward your daily caffeine.

01The two sources
Where does the caffeine in Glyco Harmony come from?
It comes from two plants in the blend: guarana seed and green tea leaf. Both carry caffeine by nature, and neither line on the label says how much.
Guarana is a seed whose effects are mostly put down to its caffeine (MSKCC, Guarana). Green tea leaf also contains caffeine (NCCIH, Green Tea).

On the Glyco Harmony panel, guarana is line 3 of the 22-ingredient blend. Green tea is line 7. Neither has a weight of its own. The panel gives one total for the whole blend: 200 mg in each 1 mL serving.
That is legal: a blend may show one total weight, with ingredients listed from most to least (21 CFR 101.36 (eCFR)). A federal fact sheet notes that the caffeine in guarana is often not declared on labels (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss). Every blend line is on the label explained page.
02The math
How much caffeine could one dropper hold?
No one outside the maker knows the real figure. Label order still sets an upper limit.
Ingredients in a blend must run from heaviest to lightest. Maca and grape seed come before guarana, so each weighs at least as much as guarana. Three lines of at least equal weight inside 200 mg means guarana can be no more than about 67 mg. The same logic caps green tea, in seventh place, at about 29 mg. Both cannot hit their caps at once, so together the two extracts top out near 67 mg per mL.
| Item | 1 dropper (1 mL) | 2 droppers (2 mL) |
|---|---|---|
| Whole proprietary blend | 200 mg | 400 mg |
| Guarana extract, highest possible | About 67 mg | About 133 mg |
| Green tea extract, highest possible | About 29 mg | About 57 mg |
| Both extracts together, highest possible | About 67 mg | About 133 mg |
| Average share per blend line | About 9 mg | About 18 mg |
| Caffeine printed on the label | Not disclosed | Not disclosed |
| FDA figure for most healthy adults | 400 mg a day from all sources (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?) | |
The real caffeine is lower than these ceilings, because an extract is not pure caffeine. If guarana sat near the 9 mg average share, its caffeine would be under 9 mg.
A single number would look precise and could be wrong. A ceiling shows the worst case the label allows.
03The reason
Why would blood sugar drops include caffeine at all?
The label does not say. Neither plant is a known blood sugar ingredient, and no trial has tested Glyco Harmony itself.
One of the sales page's five support claims is "Assist in Maintaining a Healthy Weight" (Glyco Harmony sales page). Guarana and green tea are common in weight and energy products, which may explain their place. That is our guess, not the maker's statement.
The weight evidence is thin. Green tea catechins with caffeine may have only a modest effect on body weight (NCCIH, Green Tea).
For blood sugar, the picture is plainer still. NCCIH finds no reliable evidence that any herbal supplement helps control diabetes (NCCIH, Diabetes and Dietary Supplements). The American Diabetes Association does not find supplements proven to lower glucose for people without a deficiency (ADA, Vitamins & Supplements). See how each claim stacks up on the claims vs evidence page.
04Your daily total
Does the caffeine in the drops add to coffee and tea?
Yes. Every cup, can and capsule goes into one daily total. The FDA cites 400 mg a day, about two to three 12-ounce cups of coffee, as an amount not generally linked to bad effects in most healthy adults (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?).
Coffee and tea
Count your usual cups first. The drops add a smaller, unknown amount on top.
Other supplements
Pre-workout powders and "energy" or weight products often hold guarana or green tea too. Guarana may not be safe with other stimulants (MSKCC, Guarana).
The drops
At most about 67 mg of guarana and green tea extract per mL, by label order. The caffeine itself is a smaller slice of that.
Someone with one cup of coffee a day stays under the FDA figure even if the drops reached their ceiling. Heavy coffee drinkers, and anyone also using a stimulant product, are the most likely to go over.

See packs05Who should be careful
Who should watch the caffeine in Glyco Harmony?
Mainly people who react to small amounts, and people the label already tells to ask first. Too much caffeine can cause a fast heart rate, palpitations, trouble sleeping, anxiety and the jitters (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?).
- Pregnant or nursing. The label asks you to consult a physician first. The FDA also says people who are pregnant or breastfeeding should ask a provider about caffeine (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?).
- Sensitive sleepers. Insomnia is a common side effect of guarana (MSKCC, Guarana).
- Certain medicines. At high intakes, green tea lowers blood levels of nadolol, a beta-blocker (NCCIH, Green Tea). Guarana may raise bleeding risk with warfarin, though how much that matters is unclear (MSKCC, Guarana). Ask your pharmacist.
The label names no time of day. A morning dropper keeps any caffeine away from bedtime.
06Side effects
What side effects can guarana and green tea cause?
The common ones with guarana are nausea and trouble sleeping (MSKCC, Guarana). At high doses, guarana has been linked to vomiting, heartbeat changes, high blood pressure and seizures (MSKCC, Guarana).
Green tea has a different, rare risk. Liver injury has been reported in some people who used green tea products, mostly extracts in tablets or capsules (NCCIH, Green Tea). It is uncommon. Still, if you feel unwell in a new way while using any green tea product, call your doctor.
Never stop or change insulin, metformin or any prescribed medicine because of a supplement. If the drops seem to disagree with you, stop the drops and talk to your care team.
More detail on both plants sits on the guarana and green tea page. The full list of cautions is on the safety page.
07Bottom line
So should the caffeine worry you?
For most healthy adults, probably not. Label order caps the two caffeine plants at about 67 mg of extract per mL. The caffeine in them is less, and likely much less.
The real issue is the missing number. If you are pregnant, very sensitive to caffeine or on a medicine that reacts with it, ask before you start. The order desk at +1 (925) 231-0148 can be asked for a caffeine figure. Dropper basics are on the dosage page.
Food, movement, sleep and your care plan matter far more than this detail.
08FAQ
Caffeine in Glyco Harmony: questions
How much caffeine is in a dropper of Glyco Harmony?
The label does not say. By label order, guarana and green tea extract together cannot exceed about 67 mg per 1 mL dropper, and the caffeine inside them is a smaller part of that. Ask the order desk for an exact figure if it matters to you.
Why does a blood sugar supplement contain guarana?
The label gives no reason. Guarana is mainly a caffeine source, often used in weight and energy products (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss) (MSKCC, Guarana). It is not a known blood sugar ingredient, and no trial has tested Glyco Harmony with or without it. Its place in the blend is not explained.
Can I drink coffee while taking Glyco Harmony drops?
Most healthy adults can, as long as the daily total stays reasonable. The FDA cites 400 mg a day from all sources, about two to three 12-ounce cups of coffee (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?). The drops add a small, unstated amount on top.
Will Glyco Harmony keep me awake at night?
It might if you are sensitive to caffeine. Insomnia is a common side effect of guarana (MSKCC, Guarana). The label names no time of day, so taking your dropper in the morning is a simple way to keep caffeine away from bedtime.
Is green tea extract bad for your liver?
For most people, no. Liver injury from green tea products is rare but reported, mostly with extracts in tablets or capsules (NCCIH, Green Tea). If you feel unwell in a new way while using any green tea product, stop it and call your doctor promptly.
Is caffeine in supplements safe during pregnancy?
Ask your doctor or midwife first. The Glyco Harmony label tells pregnant or nursing mothers to consult a physician, and the FDA says people who are pregnant or breastfeeding should talk to a provider about caffeine (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?). Bring the bottle to that visit.
