Glyco Harmony Safety, Side Effects and Interactions
For most healthy adults, 1 or 2 droppers a day is a small dose of common herbs and amino acids. The real risks sit with medicines: chromium, gymnema and ginseng may add to diabetes drugs and cause lows. The drops also carry caffeine from guarana and green tea, and xylitol that is dangerous to dogs. Ask your doctor first if you take any prescription.

01The short version
Is Glyco Harmony safe to take?
For a healthy adult who takes no medicine, the label dose is small. The bigger questions come from what else you take.
Each 1 mL lists 0.7 mcg of chromium and a 200 mg blend of 22 ingredients. That is about 9 mg per blend ingredient on average, far below most study doses. Low amounts mean fewer side effects, but they do not rule out interactions with medicines.
The label asks pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition to see a physician first. Add autoimmune disease (astragalus) and heart problems (licorice, arginine) to that list (NCCIH, Astragalus) (NCCIH, Licorice Root) (MSKCC, Arginine).
FDA does not approve supplements before sale (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements), so the checking falls to you and your pharmacist. See every line in label explained.
02Side effects
What side effects could Glyco Harmony cause?
None are reported for the drops. Single-ingredient studies, at higher doses, list these.
| Ingredient | Effects reported | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Guarana, green tea | Caffeine effects: poor sleep, jitters, nausea, fast heartbeat | (MSKCC, Guarana) (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?) |
| Panax ginseng | Insomnia is the most common one | (NCCIH, Asian Ginseng) |
| African mango | Gas, headache, trouble sleeping; one kidney failure case | (MSKCC, Irvingia gabonensis (African mango)) |
| Coleus forskohlii | Low blood pressure, slow heart rate, diarrhea | (MSKCC, Forskolin (Coleus forskohlii)) |
| Capsicum | Stomach irritation and pain | (MSKCC, Cayenne (Capsicum)) |
| Green tea extract | Rare liver injury, mostly from extract pills | (NCCIH, Green Tea) |
| Gymnema | Dulls sweet taste; one reversible liver case report | (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph) |
| L-carnitine, L-arginine | Upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea at gram doses | (NIH ODS, Carnitine) (MSKCC, Arginine) |
Most of these showed up at hundreds of milligrams or grams a day, while a dropper holds 200 mg of blend in total. The label prints no caffeine amount (MSKCC, Guarana). FDA cites 400 mg a day as fine for most healthy adults (FDA, Caffeine: how much is too much?), and the drops stack with coffee, tea and soda. Take them early if sleep is a problem.

03Low blood sugar
Can Glyco Harmony cause low blood sugar?
On its own, it is unlikely at these amounts. With insulin or a sulfonylurea, it could tip the balance toward a low. Chromium may add to the effect of insulin and other diabetes drugs (NIH ODS, Chromium). Ginseng might lower blood sugar (NCCIH, Asian Ginseng), and gymnema showed a small fasting-glucose drop in studies (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph). The ADA warns that some supplements can cause lows alongside diabetes medicine (ADA, Vitamins & Supplements).
Keep taking prescribed medicine; never stop or change it because of a supplement.

Answer five yes-or-no questions. One yes means a call to your doctor or pharmacist before the first dropper.
More detail: who should use it.
06At home
Is the bottle safe around dogs and children?
Keep it high and closed. The base contains xylitol, which can drop a dog's blood sugar fast, with vomiting, weakness or seizures within an hour (FDA, Paws Off Xylitol). If a dog gets into it, call a vet right away.
The label's storage lines:

08FAQ
Glyco Harmony safety questions
What are the side effects of Glyco Harmony?
No side effects are reported for the drops themselves. Single ingredients, at much higher doses, have caused poor sleep and jitters from caffeine, gas, headache, stomach upset and, rarely, liver problems (MSKCC, Guarana) (MSKCC, Irvingia gabonensis (African mango)) (NCCIH, Green Tea). Stop the drops and call your doctor if a new symptom starts.
Can Glyco Harmony cause low blood sugar?
On its own it is unlikely at these small amounts. With insulin or a sulfonylurea, chromium, gymnema and ginseng may add to the drug and raise the chance of a low (NIH ODS, Chromium) (ADA, Vitamins & Supplements). Check your sugar more often in the first weeks and share the log with your doctor.
Is the xylitol in Glyco Harmony dangerous for dogs?
Yes. Xylitol can cause a fast, dangerous sugar drop in dogs within 10 to 60 minutes, with vomiting, weakness or seizures (FDA, Paws Off Xylitol). Keep the bottle out of reach, and call a vet right away if a dog chews it or licks a spill.
Can I take Glyco Harmony while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Not without your doctor's approval. The label asks pregnant and nursing mothers to consult a physician first, and ginseng, maca and L-tryptophan all carry pregnancy cautions in public sources (NCCIH, Asian Ginseng) (MSKCC, Maca) (Drugs.com, L-tryptophan).
Is Glyco Harmony safe with blood pressure medicine?
Ask your pharmacist first. Coleus and L-arginine can lower blood pressure and may add to your medicine, while the licorice compound can push pressure up (MSKCC, Forskolin (Coleus forskohlii)) (MSKCC, Arginine) (NCCIH, Licorice Root). The amounts are not disclosed.
Can Glyco Harmony hurt your liver?
Liver harm has not been reported for the drops. Green tea extracts have been tied to rare liver injury, and one reversible case was reported with gymnema (NCCIH, Green Tea) (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph). If you have liver disease, ask your doctor first and stop the drops if anything feels wrong.
